This site is run by Spiral Path Arts LLC ("we", "us"), the publishing imprint of author Barry Solway. This policy explains what happens to your information when you join the mailing list. It is short because we collect very little.
The only information we ask for is what you type into the newsletter signup form:
When you submit that form, our hosting provider also records standard technical information about the request, including your IP address and the time of submission. This is a normal part of how web hosting works and is used to prevent spam and abuse.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, your postal address, phone number, date of birth, or payment details. If you buy a book, that purchase happens entirely on Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy - we never see your payment information.
We use your email address for one purpose: sending you the Spiral Path Arts newsletter, which covers new releases, cover reveals, and occasional behind-the-scenes updates. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
Our legal basis for this is your consent. You give it by submitting the form and then clicking the confirmation link we email you, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Two service providers process your data on our behalf. Both act only on our instructions.
MailerLite stores our subscriber list and sends our emails. We use MailerLite to manage our email marketing subscriber list and to send emails to our subscribers. MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may process your data using industry-standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. MailerLite's privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided at the end of each newsletter at any time.
Netlify hosts this website and receives your signup form submission before it is passed to MailerLite. Netlify retains a copy of the submission and standard server logs. Netlify's privacy policy is available at netlify.com/privacy.
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. There is no tracking pixel in our emails beyond MailerLite's standard open and click reporting, which tells us how many people opened a newsletter and which links were popular.
We keep your details for as long as you stay subscribed. When you unsubscribe, MailerLite retains your email address on a suppression list so that we do not accidentally email you again - this is a safeguard, not a mailing list.
Separately, Netlify keeps a record of the original form submission - what you typed, and the IP address it came from - for as long as this site is hosted with them. We do not use that record to contact you, and unsubscribing does not erase it.
If you would rather be erased entirely, email us and we will delete both copies.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list; you never have to ask us or explain why.
You can also ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it outright. Depending on where you live you may have these rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or state privacy laws such as the Colorado Privacy Act. We will honour such a request regardless of where you live. Email barry@spiralpatharts.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Barry writes young adult fiction, so we expect teenage readers. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we ask that under-13s not sign up for the mailing list. If you are under 16 and live in the EU or UK, please get a parent or guardian's permission first. If we learn that we have collected an address from a child under 13, we will delete it.
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing the page.
